John R. Hunter, owner of Hunter Appraisal Service, has been in the real estate related business on the Outer Banks since 1981. He served as a real estate salesman and sales manager for two local real estate companies.

He became a residential real estate appraiser in 1983 and his experience encompasses Dare County, Currituck County, and Hyde County, including Ocracoke Island. His main office is located in Kill Devil Hills.

John realized the growth of the Outer Banks would expand to both Hatteras Island and Ocracoke Island. He opened his first branch office in Avon on Hatteras Island in 2000. Today, in addition to overseeing the two other offices, he maintains a part-time office on Ocracoke Island.

A 1981 graduate of the University of South Carolina, John is State-Certified through the North Carolina Appraisal Board. He is also licensed through the North Carolina Real Estate Commission.

 

He and his staff update their continuing education annually, and strive to keep abreast of the latest changes in the state rules and regulations. ( A complete list of experience and training is available upon request.)

 

Hunter Appraisal Service is a member of the Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce, Outer Banks Association of Realtors, and the North Carolina Professional Appraisers Coalition.
